Being a mother

I realized this week what being a mother is all about. It's not feeling a baby growing inside you. It's not about the number of times you nurse them in a day's time or how many times a night you get up to check on them. It's not about how many times you read a book or watch the same cartoon, AGAIN. It's not about how small you can cut up a hot dog or how many times a day you fill a sippy cup. It's not about the number of toys or cute outfits you can buy. It's not about taking care of them when they are sick or laughing until you cry at how silly they can be. It's not about changing a million diapers. It's not about vacuuming up goldfish three times a day. It's not even the little footprints on your freshly mopped floor. All these things are important, (especially the diapers!) but they are still not what being a mother is all about. Instead it's about seeing the little light come on in their head when they finally understand what you've been teaching them. It's about the little twinkle in their eye when they say your name. It's about knowing that God has trusted you with training one of His children. It's about the first time you hear "uv you" from the little one that you "uv" so much. But most of all, it's when you hear your precious little boy say "uv you Jesus!" for the first time. That's when it hit me, what being a mother is really all about.

Picture day!

Well, I finally got around to taking Noah to have his picture made. He started to cry when we first got there and I thought it was going to be a disaster. Thankfully, my friend Valerie and her kids were with us. Noah just loves her girls so they were able to make him laugh and we got some pretty good shots! The great part about going to Portrait Innovations is that they give you your entire session on CD so you can share with your friends. So here is a look at how it went.

Happy Birthday Rick!

This is a day that the Lord has made!!! There are so many reasons to praise Him. The fact that I am breathing today is enough. However, I have a special cause to praise my God today. Twenty-four years ago today, Rick was born. How wonderful that the Creator of all things would take the time to make a husband for me! So, simply put, Happy Birthday Rick, and thank-you Lord for him!
